EFHOH is pleased to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Association for Hearing Accessibility (IAHA) in January 2026, marking a new phase of strategic cooperation between the two organisations.

IAHA is a global association dedicated to advancing hearing accessibility through the promotion and support of assistive listening technologies. It brings together manufacturers, technical experts, and advocates to support inclusive access to public spaces and beyond.

EFHOH and IAHA have worked together informally for many years to advance hearing accessibility across Europe. The MoU establishes a five-year framework for cooperation, strengthening coordination and supporting structured joint action at the European level in the areas of hearing access, accessible communication, assistive technologies, and inclusive digital and public environments.

Within this framework, EFHOH and IAHA commit to collaborating on a range of activities, including joint policy development and publications, exchange of knowledge and best practices, cooperation on projects and consortia, and the strengthening of innovation, skills, and professional development in the field of hearing accessibility.

Lidia Best, President of EFHOH, highlighted the significance of this agreement:

“This next step in our long-standing collaboration with IAHA provides a solid framework for strategic cooperation. Hearing accessibility is essential for full participation in society. By combining EFHOH’s rights-based advocacy with IAHA’s technical expertise, we aim to promote accessibility, inclusion, and participation for people with hearing loss across Europe.”

For Andrew Thomas, Chair of the International Association for Hearing Accessibility (IAHA): “This is an important move for IAHA as part of our expanded remit to promote all aspects of hearing accessibility.  EFHOH is a very active organisation and one that we look forward to working with more closely to benefit people with hearing loss.”

With this agreement, EFHOH and IAHA reaffirm their commitment to long-term cooperation, technical recommendations, and the promotion of accessible and inclusive environments for people with hearing loss across Europe.
