On 9–10 July, EFHOH President Lidia Best participated in the ITU-T Study Group 21 Question 1 meeting in Geneva, focused on multimedia systems, services and application accessibility for digital inclusion.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to contribute to international standardisation work and to highlight the need for digital technologies and services to reflect the accessibility requirements and lived experiences of people with hearing loss.
During her visit, Lidia also met Professor Masahito Kawamori and attended part of the AI for Good Global Summit, where the latest developments in artificial intelligence, accessibility and digital inclusion were being discussed.
As technologies continue to evolve, the participation of people with hearing loss in standardisation and innovation remains essential.
EFHOH will continue working to ensure that accessibility is embedded in standardisation from the outset and that people with hearing loss are represented in the development of emerging technologies.
