During the Annual General Meeting of the European Federation of Hard of Hearing People ( EFHOH), the delegates have deliberated and agreed EFHOH position on the inclusion of Hard of Hearing people in the labour market.

Our statement supports the work of the Disability Platform in order to facilitate the implementation of the Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Disability Employment Package while points out specific needs of Hard of Hearing citizens based on their individual needs and requirement to access assistive listening technologies including hearing aids and cochlear implants.

The Disability Employment Package, is a flagship initiative within the framework of the Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030, contains a set of nonlegislative measures (including guidelines and examples of positive action), aimed at improving labour market outcomes for persons with disabilities. It covers six areas of action: strengthening the capacities of employment and integration services; promoting hiring perspectives through affirmative action and combating stereotypes; ensuring reasonable accommodation at work; retaining persons with disabilities in employment; preventing disabilities associated with chronic diseases; securing vocational rehabilitation schemes in case of sickness or accidents, and; exploring quality jobs in sheltered employment, and pathways to the open labour market.
