Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, under the 2025 theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress”, we call for a Europe where hard of hearing people can fully participate and belong.
As the EU Disability Rights Strategy enters its second phase, we urge the EU and Member States to turn commitments into concrete change, ensuring accessible information, media, workplaces, and essential services for hard of hearing people.
From high-quality subtitling to accessible emergency communication and inclusive employment, progress must be measurable, meaningful, and lived in everyday life.
EFHOH calls for an inclusive Europe where communication is accessible, participation is equal, and the rights of hard of hearing people are upheld.
