On 11 March 2026, in connection with International Women’s Day, EFHOH, together with the International Federation of Hard of Hearing Young People (IFHOHYP), hosted the webinar “Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Giving Voice to Hard of Hearing Women Leaders.”

International Women’s Day 2026, under the theme “Give to Gain,” emphasises the importance of investing in inclusive societies and ensuring equal opportunities for all. Within this framework, the webinar addressed the intersection of gender equality, disability rights, and participation in leadership, highlighting the structural barriers that continue to affect hard of hearing women across Europe.

The panel discussion brought together hard of hearing women from different generations and professional backgrounds, who shared their lived experiences navigating leadership and professional environments. Speakers reflected on persistent challenges, including accessibility barriers in education and employment, gender stereotypes, and the ongoing need for self-advocacy.

At the same time, the conversation underscored a key message: gender equality and accessibility must advance together. Representation is essential. When hard of hearing women are represented in leadership and decision-making spaces, their perspectives and experiences contribute to shaping more inclusive environments, policies, and opportunities.

EFHOH would like to thank the speakers — Karina Chupina, Olivia Lori, Marina Corneliu, Nicole Sophie Marinos, and Chloe Want — for their valuable contributions, as well as all participants who joined the discussion.
