On 20 March 2026, Jonathan Elebjörk Wahlström, from our member Unga Hörselskadade, represented EFHOH at the Youth Dialogue with Hadja Lahbib in Brussels.

The dialogue brought together 20 young persons with disabilities from 17 countries to discuss the next steps in strengthening the EU Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021–2030.

EFHOH contributed to discussions on political participation, highlighting key barriers faced by persons with disabilities in voting, engaging in political processes, and accessing civic spaces.

Several priorities were identified to move forward for the European Commission:

  • Leading by example through more accessible and inclusive EU institutions

  • Better mapping of barriers across the EU

  • Sharing best practices on accessibility

  • Strengthening education and training, with adequate resources

EFHOH welcomes this opportunity to ensure that the voices of young persons with disabilities are reflected in the future of EU policy and looks forward to the upcoming review of the EU Disability Strategy.
