
EFHOH is pleased to announce the appointment of Lidia Best as an Expert to the Informal Commission Expert Group on the European Accessibility Act, following a selection procedure led by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (DG JUST).
The Expert Group brings together Member State authorities, accessibility experts, and stakeholder organisations to support the implementation of the European Accessibility Act and to improve coordination on accessibility policy across the EU.
We would like to thank the Commission for recognising EFHOH’s expertise and advocacy work in the field of accessibility and inclusion for hard of hearing people across Europe.
What the Expert Group does:
The Informal Expert Group plays a key advisory and coordination role in the implementation of the European Accessibility Act. Its work includes:
- Supporting cooperation between the European Commission, Member States, and stakeholders on accessibility implementation
- Advising the Commission on key aspects of the legislation, including accessibility requirements and compliance
- Contributing to the development of policy initiatives, implementing measures, and delegated acts
- Improving coherence in how accessibility requirements are applied across the EU
Importance for the hard of hearing community
The European Accessibility Act sets out essential requirements for accessibility in key products and services, including audiovisual media services, digital platforms, and communication technologies.
By taking part in the Experts Group EFHOH will contribute lived experience and expert knowledge to policy development and implementation to help move accessibility forward for people with hearing loss across Europe.
