On 23 September 2026, EFHOH hosted the online webinar “Accessibility Without Borders: Hard of Hearing Students in International Programmes”, bringing together the European Students’ Union, Erasmus Student Network, Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions, and current and former hard of hearing students and volunteers to share their experiences of mobility abroad.
The discussion explored both the opportunities and the challenges that hard of hearing students encounter when participating in international programmes. Speakers reflected on their personal experiences navigating academic, social and administrative environments while studying abroad, and shared insights into the support measures that can make a meaningful difference.
Studying abroad can offer valuable opportunities for personal growth, cultural exchange and professional development when appropriate support is available.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the experiences of hard of hearing students and ensuring that accessibility is considered from the start of international education and mobility programmes. Participants stressed that students should not lose access to the support and accommodations they need when they go abroad, and that true freedom of movement means being able to study, participate, and succeed on an equal basis across Europe.
