EFHOH President Lidia Best recently visited Malta, where she met with representatives of the Gozo Association for the Deaf, an EFHOH member organisation, including Andrew Sciberras.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss local priorities, and learn more about the challenges faced by deaf and hard of hearing people in Malta. Direct engagement with member organisations remains an important part of EFHOH’s work, helping to strengthen cooperation and ensure that advocacy efforts reflect the realities experienced by communities across Europe.

These exchanges also highlight the value of sharing knowledge and good practices between organisations. While each country faces its own challenges, there is much to learn from one another in advancing accessibility, inclusion, and equal participation for people with hearing loss.

The visit comes as preparations are already underway for the EFHOH Board Meeting 2027, which will be hosted in Malta. EFHOH looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Maltese partners and to bringing board members together next year to discuss key priorities for the organisation and the wider hearing loss community.
