EFHOH has joined the IAHA (International Association for Hearing Accessibility) Action Group to Drive Universal Standards for Hearing Accessibility.
EFHOH involvement in the IAHA Action Group, brings our commitment to advancing universal standards that uphold rights, remove barriers, and improve accessibility and inclusion for people with hearing loss.
Representing the interests of hard of hearing people across Europe, EFHOH works to promote equal access, inclusion, and participation for the estimated 59 million Europeans living with hearing loss. EFHOH’s involvement in the IAHA Action Group is grounded in the disability movement’s core principle: nothing about us without us and we are happy to have our experts Lidia Best and Alf Lindberg involved.
Effective and inclusive standards cannot be designed in isolation. They require the direct participation of people with hearing loss, whose lived experience is essential to shaping solutions that work in real life, not just in technical documents.
Collaboration between technical experts, industry, researchers, and representative organisations is vital – but it is the insight of hard of hearing people that ensures accessibility is user – centred and addresses users need.
